C.L.E.D. (Bevis modification) (Cystine Lactose Electrolyte Deficient - Double Indicator) LAB 6 Description Bevis modified Mackey and Sandys original medium by introducing a double indicator to improve the differentiation of lactose and non lactose fermenting coliforms, staphylococci and streptococci. The swarming of Proteus spp. is inhibited. LAB M C.L.E.D. will grow many of the more demanding streptococci of Lancefield groups A, B, C, G and F. This medium may not grow Pasteurella spp. or halophilic organisms.
